Driving lessons in East York

Beginner and G2 lessons

We start on calm residential streets, practising steering control, smooth starts and stops, mirror use and scanning. Then we move to the skills examiners check most on the G2 test: complete stops, safe left turns, lane changes with shoulder checks, school zones, three-point turns and parallel parking.

G road test lessons

The Don Valley Parkway runs right alongside East York, making it ideal for practising for the highway portion of the G test. We cover merging from on-ramps, keeping a safe following distance at speed, planning lane changes early and exiting smoothly.

Newcomer driver program

Most East York students take their road test at the Toronto Metro East DriveTest Centre, Victoria Terrace Plaza, 1448 Lawrence Ave E, Unit 15. Roads around this centre can include:

• Narrow residential streets with cars parked on both sides.
• Busy plaza entrances and exits where you need to watch for pedestrians.

Tips for passing your road test in East York

• Handle narrow streets carefully. Many East York streets have parked cars on both sides. Slow down, watch for opening doors and be ready to pull over to let oncoming cars pass.
• Watch for children and school zones. East York is a family neighbourhood with many schools and parks. Reduce your speed and stay alert.
• Be patient on Lawrence Avenue East. Traffic around the Metro East test centre is heavy. Wait for a safe gap before turning, and keep a safe following distance.
• Master the DVP merge (G test). On-ramps to the Don Valley Parkway can be short. Get up to speed quickly, signal, shoulder check and merge with confidence.
• Practise your parking. Parallel parking on tight residential streets is great practice for your road test.
