G2 Road Test Preparation in Toronto

The G2 road test is the first big step to driving on your own in Ontario. Ezee Driving School has been preparing Toronto drivers for it since 2006, with private, one-on-one lessons from MTO-certified instructors who know exactly what DriveTest examiners look for.

Most people who fail the G2 test don't fail because they can't drive. They fail because of small habits: a rolling stop, a missed shoulder check, drifting over the speed limit in a school zone. Our lessons find those habits early and fix them, so on test day you drive the way the examiner expects.

What the G2 road test checks

The G2 test is about safe, controlled driving in normal city and residential traffic. Examiners use a marking sheet, and our instructors coach you against the same criteria. Areas we focus on include:

• Stops: full stops behind the line at every stop sign and red light, then creeping forward to see if needed.
• Observation: mirror checks and shoulder checks before every lane change, turn and pull-out.
• Intersections: right-of-way at four-way stops, safe gaps for left turns and correct lane choice.
• Speed control: keeping to the limit, especially in school zones and community safety zones.
• Lane changes: signal, mirror, shoulder check and a smooth move with a safe space cushion.
• Manoeuvres: parallel parking, roadside stops and three-point turns.

How our G2 lessons work

1. An honest first assessment

Your first 45-minute lesson shows your instructor where you stand. We don't sell fixed packages, because every driver is different. Instead, we tell you honestly how many lessons you are likely to need before your test.

2. Lessons that copy the real test

Each lesson targets your weak points and the kind of roads used around Toronto test centres. We practise the full routine, from leaving the parking lot to the final roadside stop, so nothing feels new on test day.

3. Booster lessons before your test

4. Our car for test day

You can use our Toyota Corolla training car for your road test. It's comfortable, easy to drive and familiar from your lessons, and booking it includes a free 45-minute warm-up lesson right before your test. See car for road test for details.

Where we prepare G2 students

We teach across Toronto, including North York, Scarborough and Etobicoke. Students in downtown Toronto start their lessons at Kipling, Lawrence West or York Mills subway station, where the roads are better for learning.

Most of our G2 students test at the Etobicoke or Downsview DriveTest centres, and we prepare you for the type of roads around your chosen centre.

Tips to pass your G2 road test first time

• Exaggerate your shoulder checks. If the examiner can't see your head turn, it doesn't count.
• Stop completely and count. Wheels fully stopped behind the line, every time.
• Don't rush left turns. Waiting for a safe gap is never marked down; turning into a tight gap is.
• Watch the signs. School zones and lower speed limits appear often on Toronto test routes.
• Get a good night's sleep and arrive early. A warm-up lesson in our car helps calm nerves.
