Highway Driving Lessons in Toronto

Highway driving is where many new drivers feel the most nervous, and it's a key part of the G road test. Ezee Driving School's private highway lessons build your confidence on Toronto's busiest expressways, step by step, with a calm MTO-certified instructor beside you.

Whether you're preparing for your G test, starting a new commute, or simply avoiding highways because they make you anxious, we'll get you there. We start with quieter stretches and short trips, then build up to rush-hour traffic and complex interchanges.

Highways we practise on

• Highway 401: North America's busiest highway, with collector and express lanes.
• Highway 427: fast merges and busy interchanges in Etobicoke.
• Highway 400: heading north from the 401.
• Don Valley Parkway (DVP): curves, short on-ramps and heavy traffic.
• Gardiner Expressway: along the waterfront into downtown.

Skills you'll learn

Merging with confidence

Use the on-ramp to match the speed of traffic, signal early, check your blind spot and merge smoothly. We practise until it feels natural, including short ramps where you need to act quickly.

Lane changes at speed

Mirror, signal, shoulder check and a gradual move into a safe gap. We also cover moving between collector and express lanes on the 401.

Safe following distance

Keeping a space cushion of at least two to three seconds, and more in rain or snow, so you have time to react.

Planning exits early

Reading signs well ahead, moving into the exit lane in good time and slowing down on the ramp, not on the highway.

Staying calm in heavy traffic

Rush hour, trucks and sudden slowdowns are part of Toronto highways. We teach you how to stay relaxed and in control.

We start highway lessons across North York, Scarborough and Etobicoke, all close to major highways. Downtown students meet their instructor at Kipling, Lawrence West or York Mills subway station.
